This crappy weather.

Hey guys,

It’s been a few days, 5 to be precise as to when I last blogged. So after this blog I will set my self a challenge to draw a picture each day, to blog and explain why I done it. Just to keep me on my toes and keep my blog just a little more active. My attentions at the moment are towards the weather!

Now I don’t know about everybody else, but I usually anticipate the autumn and winter weather to come, besides this is England we know it’s coming! This year is different though, like every year we sit in front of the television or even check updates online to see what the weather man predicts for us. I say predicts because even though they have all this high-tech equipment that can tell them months in advance what the weather will be like, they still manage to completely mess it up! So yeah, we check for their predictions to see what’s to come. Now to be fair, as English men and women we should be more prepared for the weather to come, there is no putting our ‘winter’ clothes away and getting out the ‘summer’ it’s all rolled into one lately. Don’t get me wrong, this years summer was great it weren’t a solid summer with 6-8 weeks of heat, but when do we ever get that? But there was less rain and more sun by my understanding.

As a southerner all the northerners will be laughing at us now as we to them we are ‘weak, fragile people who can’t take a little cold’ when really the southerners laugh at them for being pale and mostly obese to help them keep the cold out! Now I don’t want to start a war between north and south, plus a good deal of my family are from Scotland and that’s well up north and them poor buggers have colder summers than penguins! I mean the beauty of England is the fact that we have 4 seasons, but up north I think the most they have is 2! That’s autumn and winter all year round! This years been different though, I don’t feel as if we’ve had 4 seasons, I feel as if we’ve had 2 rolled up into one mess we like to call the British weather! We started the year with a horrible winter and that gradually progressed into a spring type summer which didn’t really hit spring just jumped into summer, leaving people either ill or just completely burnt out by the heat as there was no time for adjusting. Now after quite a beautiful summer and some pretty amazing temperatures even coming in to the September months we are slowly getting dragged into autumn. This isn’t no normal autumn though, this is one bitterly cold autumn that I personally am absolutely hating and wish for just one year we could forget about winter and maybe bring some tropical weather over!

As the British nation, each year comes out of winter into spring and spring to summer etc. We tend to hear people moan about everything! Well apart from the weather man, unless you made plans for the seaside and it rained cats and dogs, then the weather mans ears would have been burning all day long! I mean moaning about everything weather wise! One minute we’d moan it is to cold, and then when summer comes we moan it’s to hot, we moan that we never have a ‘white’ Christmas and when we do everyone moans about how cold it is and the whole country comes to a stand still because of how poorly prepared we are! Every year it happens! I mean how is that?! Look how much snow America gets in one night and the next day, every road is clear, all the main shops are open even down to schools! Over here, we get not even a few centimeters and it causes mass panic across the country and everything gets shutdown! To me it don’t make too much sense at all and even now when writing this I’m bamboozled to know why!

So why do we persist to moan about the weather when all of us living within this ‘beautiful’ country know what’s to come each year! I think the only thing that will begin to change and whether this is down to global warming or not I’ll let you guys judge, is that the seasons sooner or later will be on the wrong months! For now, I shall top up on the honey and lemon and stay put underneath my blanket! Cause I am not looking forward to getting any more ‘man flu’

First and most definately not the last!

I’ve been interested in blogging for quite sometime now, I just didn’t know what to talk about and if I did start would I have to keep my blog continuously on the same topic? I mean, I guess there’s no good time to start blogging, but I feel if I continue to postpone even writing my first blog I wouldn’t get started at all.

So here it goes!

I do not feel as if I’ll have a set topic to talk about, ‘cause for me, it is about getting my opinions out on any subject rather than having a specific one. Hopefully once I’ve got the hang of it I can tailor it to my passions which would be working with youth or helping create a positive change within our community etc. But for now I will talk about tattoos.

Now I know there’s a lot of varied opinions about tattoos, some people like them and others despise the sight of them completely. From a young age I’ve always been into art and within my family there are a lot of tattoos, which I guess means spending a lot of time at the different tattoo parlours! So I guess tattooing is in my blood a little, I was always excited about visiting the tattoo parlours on holiday, to be able to see what designs were around the room and also the interaction with people that were there. I guess there is a bit of a stigma attached to tattoo’s and the people they sit on but in this day and age they’re becoming more and more common in everyday life. Back in the day it was known for only sailors, criminals and circus acts to have tattoo’s but they’re showing up all over the place on top models, film starts and even footballers!

Tattooing has been around for centuries, some believe it may have happened by mistake, by someone having a cut or gash and rubbing soot or ash into the wound and when it healed concealed the ash in with it, leaving the mark of a tattoo. Whilst we don’t know how tattoos came about, they have been used through out the centuries and used in so many different ways. Some forms of tattooing were marks of religious and spiritual belief, criminal punishment or slavery reasons to the markings of individual tribal groups and even as war symbols. Whatever the reason for it then it has carried on for generations. It was adopted into British culture in the early 1800’s when it became a tradition within the navy after Captain Cook returned home with tattooed Polynesians to exhibit at fairs and lectures to demonstrate the height of European civilisation compared to the ‘primitive natives’.

With all this in mind and with my history and love for tattoos I guess my opinions could be seen as being bias towards tattoos. Our society has become much more judgemental to the little things that we do that we seem to miss the bigger picture. I believe that tattoos can be used as a form of art and self expression, to show all types of feeling and emotion, down to just liking a picture enough to have it on your skin!

It is true, that once you get a tattoo, it will be there for life but depending on how much thought and enjoyment you’ll get out of it this it shouldn’t matter. Some people see their body as a canvas and others like to keep their canvas clean but for whatever reason tattooing is still loved and hated in this nation. It’s been in the news recently about Cheryl Cole’s cover up tattoo and as most famous people are, she was placed on the firing line to receive criticism by the numbers. Her reply to the backlash of criticism was;

‘People are entitled to their own opinion. Personally I’ve never really concerned myself with other people’s body parts!’

I personally don’t find her attractive so to me it has made no difference what she has done to her skin as long as she likes it and feels she has expressed herself in the best way possible it’s fine by me.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but at the same time we must come to understand that everyone has their own personal preference, what one likes another might not. I feel that there is too much judgement within this day and age and people don’t feel they can be themselves without being judged by another.

I think I’m going to close this blog up before I waffle on a bit too much on a subject I enjoy and find so fascinating. I would say to anyone who is considering on getting a tattoo, depending on the type of person you are it is always good to think through your tattoos and be 100% sure before you get it done because it is easy to regret a decision you make further down the line. Other than that! Keep inking!

Until next time.

Peace
